The Career Centre in Rosebank College (RC), benefits students by assisting them in terms of applying for internships. The Career Centre organizes career coaching programs whereby students are educated on aspects related to employment. Such aspects focus on how to compose CV’s and how students should dress like when going for interviews. However the center battles with the student’s participation and engagement as they don’t attend some career coaching sessions.

The coaching sessions are important and it is essential for students to attend them. Moreover some students are not aware of the Career Centre and which is why after graduating they end jobless. The Career Centre approach companies regarding internships on the behalf of RC and they send the CV’s of students.

According to Regional Career Centre Coordinator Tando Tyakume, states that they are advising students to pass with higher marks because is not easy finding a job or internship for someone who passed with 50%. “I’m not saying that when you passed with 50% we not going to help you but what I’m saying is that passing with higher marks gives you as a students a lot of advantage because some companies want students who passed with distinctions,” said Tando Tyakume.

The career center’s aims to train students based on their courses in order to have experience and more knowledge about job interviews.

Tando continues to explain that it is advisable to attend the coaching sessions because they can never send you to interviews without preparing you. Which is why is important to be there. She also states that they don’t want a student to ruin the reputation of RC and to ruin the chances of other graduates in getting jobs or internships by sending a student who was not attended the Career Coaching session program.

She concludes by saying that Rosebank students should understand that they are here to help them. “All students qualify to attend the session as long as you are a Rosebank College student, and we are thinking of starting with the final year students because it is easier than students who have graduated and are at home,” she said. Rosebank students should use this opportunity because is very rare for a Colleges to offer students such a treat.
